Combat involves initiating a choice of melee or magic-based attacks as a three-reel slot machine, referred to as a 'Digital Mind Wave,' spins in the top corner of the screen. Each reel displays a character or a number, with each spin resulting in a potential status upgrade depending on the combination. Item 4 Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.

Inaccessible Areas

There is a blocked off entry in 'Sector 6 Slums - Park'. It says 'No Entry', if you go into the map. Unlike other paths that are shown this way, they eventually open up. This one, however, does not.

Regional Differences

Expand on this? Pictures?
  • The statue of the Goddess in the Japanese version has been changed in the other versions of the game because the original statue resembled too much like the statue of the Virgin Mary.
  • In the Japanese version of Crisis Core, if Zack is KO'd during a side mission, it is a Game Over. In the international versions, the game treats it as if you abandoned the mission and return you to the save point. This actually leads to an exploit where you can steal an infinite amount of otherwise rare Phoenix Downs from the Bonus Boss and use them to max out your cash and all your materia.
  • In the Japanese version, when starting a new game the game starts instantly. There are no difficulty modes to choose from. In the international versions, when starting a new gave you are given the choice between Normal Mode and Hard Mode difficulty. Normal represents the mode of the original Japanese difficulty, while Hard gives the enemies more HP.
  • In the international versions, many mission maps had their inaccessible areas expanded to cut out areas where they were considered superfluous as the removed areas didn't held any treasure.
  • The majority of missions had the camera changed in the international versions so it was more behind Zack rather then above him. With this change the player can see further off into the distance and thus make it easier to survey larger areas.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is an action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix for the PlayStation Portable.

Plot

Crisis Core begins seven years before the events of Final Fantasy VII, and many characters from that game and other related works appear. However, the primary characters in the game are from either SOLDIER (the private army of Shinra), or from their elite branch of operatives, the Turks.

Why It Rocks

  1. The game is both an action and turn-based RPG, with a stream of fast turns creating the illusion of real-time combat.
  2. Just like the Kingdom Hearts series, the player chooses actions from a menu, featuring attack, magic, special attack, and item choices.
  3. Mission based gameplay.
  4. Up to 300 optional missions that add lots of replay value.
  5. Many characters from the original game appear in this game.
  6. Certain combinations of characters and numbers in modulating phase will allow the player to level up Zack, power up Materia, or perform special moves and summons.
  7. The game's key feature is the Digital Mind Wave (DMW): a slot machine-like screen in the upper left-hand corner. Images and numbers continuously scroll in each of the three slots and combinations of sevens lead to special status effects.
  8. The player can choose whether to follow the game's story, which can be completed in around 15 hours of gameplay, or to complete missions, leading to around 50 hours of gameplay for a 100% completion.
  9. The shops are entered via the main menu, which makes the game easier.
  10. It is the prequel of Final Fantasy VII.
  11. Balanced difficulty.
  12. The game features new and original soundtrack, as well as remixed and remastered musical scores from the original game.
  13. One Winged Angel (which is considered Final Fantasy's best musical score) was remade.[1].
  14. The game features some of the best graphics and cinematics seen on the PSP.
  15. Excellent story and Zack's character development is one of the best highlights in the game.
  16. Cheesy but entertaining dialogue as seen in many Square Enix games.
